Ciao is a humanoid welcome robot from Alpha Robotics, designed as a brand ambassador for company lobbies, exhibition halls, public service, education and retail. It stands 1,600 mm tall with a long gown-like shell over a wheeled base, and its arms and hands have 8 degrees of freedom for greeting gestures, pointing the way and waving goodbye, while its face smiles, blinks and nods. It greets arrivals without a wake word, recognises more than 50 languages and 20 dialects, plans guided tours from spoken requests and steers around people with LiDAR and other sensors. A 10.1-inch HD screen sits on its chest, and its 12.9 Ah battery runs 8 hours or more after a 1.5-hour charge.
