Hexplorer is a six-legged bionic robot from Dobot, built as a research, education, inspection and guided-tour platform for rough terrain. Its 18-DoF hexapod layout uses a tripod gait that keeps three legs on the ground at all times, and it walks at up to 1.8 m/s, climbs 40° slopes and steps over 20 cm obstacles. It weighs about 20 kg, folds to 73.4 x 47 x 24.4 cm and carries 10 kg rated or 15 kg at most. A Livox Mid-360 LiDAR, an Intel RealSense D435 depth camera, an x86 Intel Core i7/i5 computer with 40 TOPS of GPU compute and a 504 Wh battery for about 2.5 hours complete the platform, which runs Ubuntu 22.04 with ROS 2 Humble SDKs.
