SA01 is EngineAI's open-source bipedal robot platform for universities and research labs, launched on 29 July 2024 as the company's first product. It is a legs-only platform: two legs with six degrees of freedom each carry a box-shaped torso, and both hardware and software are open for customisation and locomotion research. The EDU version weighs about 40 kg, its knee joints deliver up to 160 N·m and ankle joints up to 96 N·m, joints turn at up to 28 rad/s, and the robot can balance on one foot. The frame is high-strength aluminium alloy, and walking power draw is under 200 W.
