Phoenix is Sanctuary AI's general-purpose humanoid robot, run by the company's Carbon AI control system and known for its high-dexterity hydraulic hands with haptic sensing. The sixth-generation Phoenix unveiled on 16 May 2023 stood 170 cm (5 ft 7 in) tall, weighed 70 kg (155 lb), carried up to 25 kg, walked at up to 5 km/h and had hands with 20 degrees of freedom. A seventh generation followed in April 2024, and the eighth generation moved to a wheeled base, after customers judged bipedal legs too frail for heavy work, with a wider field of view and better telemetry for capturing training data. Sanctuary now presents itself as a Physical AI supplier and lists robotic hands as in development.
