DEX-EE is a three-fingered robotic hand from the Shadow Robot Company, developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind for machine-learning research in which hardware must survive long, impact-heavy training runs. Each finger is a self-contained, user-replaceable module with four joints driven through tendons by five motors in an N+1 arrangement, giving 12 degrees of freedom across the hand. At 350 mm long and 4.1 kg it is larger than a human hand. Every finger carries 155 sensor channels plus a stereo-camera tactile fingertip, and the hand connects to its host over EtherCAT with full ROS integration. A Chiral configuration moves the third finger into a thumb-like position for teleoperation and bimanual work.
