Dex5-S is Unitree's human-hand-scale dexterous hand with 22 degrees of freedom: five in the thumb, four in each of the index, middle and ring fingers and five in the little finger. All 22 joints are motor-driven with dual encoders and protected by an impact-protection structure that shields the gears from external blows. The aluminium-alloy hand weighs 620 g and measures 102 x 187 x 26 mm, carries 1 kg continuously and 2 kg at peak, and runs from a 15 to 65 V supply with 200 W peak power. It connects over Ethernet or USB with a 1 kHz control loop, or over RS-485 at 50 Hz. The Dex5-S Pro variant adds tactile sensing.
