Reuters visited DexForce's Shenzhen offices (Oct 15) and profiled its simulation-first approach: instead of collecting real-world teleoperation data — where a human trainer may repeat a movement 100+ times per task — the company trains robots entirely in its DexVerse virtual environment and transfers the learned skills to physical machines. CEO Jia Kui (贾奎) argued that reaching "physical AGI" through real-world data alone "would require 10 trillion samples" and called manual collection "fundamentally inefficient." The piece notes dozens of humanoid data-training centres are being built across China, often reliant on government subsidies. DexForce is backed by Chinese conglomerates, per the report.
Why it matters: Training-data cost is the industry's main bottleneck. If synthetic data closes the sim-to-real gap at scale, the capital-intensive teleoperation-centre model — and the subsidy flows behind it — looks vulnerable.

Cerence Inc. (NASDAQ: CRNC) announced (Oct 15) that its collaboration with Geely is expanding from intelligent cockpits to embodied robotics. The companies are demonstrating a humanoid robot at the Paris Motor Show, using Cerence's production-grade conversational AI with simultaneous French, English and Mandarin speech recognition. Cerence, which reports its technology has shipped in more than 525 million cars, frames the move as taking automotive-hardened voice AI into physical AI. No commercial terms or deployment timelines were disclosed. "Through our collaboration with Geely, we are bringing proven human-machine interaction technologies into the emerging robotics space," said CRO Christian Mentz.
Why it matters: Automotive-AI suppliers are using OEM relationships as a bridge into service robotics. Geely, already an aggressive humanoid backer, gets a multilingual interaction layer without building one.

Unitree Technology shares fell to an intraday low of RMB 404.03 on Oct 15, a record low that took market capitalisation below RMB 165B (~USD 23B) — roughly 63% below the RMB 1,100 first-day open on Aug 19 (issue price RMB 150.80, per TMTPost). JPMorgan initiated coverage at Underweight with a Dec 2027 target of RMB 300 (~USD 42), saying the valuation already reflects "flawless execution." Peer stocks sold off alongside (Sanhua -4.68%, Lens Technology -3.37%). Separately, 科创板日报 reported that humanoid daily rental rates in China have fallen below RMB 1,000, from RMB 2,000–3,000 at the start of 2026 and RMB 10,000+ in early 2025, with Xianyu listings for Unitree robots from RMB 289/day.
Why it matters: The A-share sentiment premium on humanoid names is deflating fast, and the rental-rate collapse signals a supply glut in low-end demand — pricing pressure that feeds back into OEM economics.
