UBTECH's H1 2026 tally, recapped by Gelonghui on Oct 4: total revenue RMB 1.27B (~USD 178M), up 104.2% YoY; humanoid robot sales of 16,123 units, up 268.3%; full-size embodied humanoids (≥160 cm, ≥200 TOPS, non-remote-controlled) contributed RMB 590M (~USD 83M) on 921 units, up 1,947%. The company also disclosed an acquisition of SZSE-listed Fenglong (002931.SZ) for end-effectors and servo drives, a joint venture with GPU maker MetaX for edge chips, and a Siemens-partnered 10,000-unit-capacity factory. The figures are company-reported and conflict with IDC's H1 tracker, which counted ~25,000 units globally with Agibot (~8,600) and Unitree (~5,000) as the top vendors (DroidHunt, Sept 29) — UBTECH's claim alone would be over 60% of that global count, so definitions clearly differ.
Why it matters: The gap between company-reported humanoid "sales" and third-party tracker counts is now too wide to ignore — a live example of the revenue-quality scrutiny CSRC and NDRC have applied to humanoid IPOs.

Galaxy General's Galbot ET1 (银河星仔), a 1.25 m, 32 kg entertainment-focused biped, opened pre-orders in three tiers: Standard RMB 79,000 (~USD 11,100), Pro RMB 139,000 (~USD 19,500, 40 TOPS Jetson Orin Nano), Flagship RMB 179,000 (~USD 25,100, 100 TOPS NX), with 200+ orders in the first 24 hours, PCauto reported Oct 5, after QbitAI first detailed pricing Oct 2. Base version has 26 DoF; Pro/Flagship reach 38 with optional 12-DoF dexterous hands. Notably, the body motors are supplied by Unitree, while Galaxy General's own AstraBrain stack (WAM planner + WBC motion model) drives the "watch once, learn once" demos — tennis rallies and dance battles. Targets C-end companionship and B-end venues; rivals named: AgiBot Robo S2, Unitree H1-2, UBTECH Walker S.
Why it matters: A Tier-1 brain company selling a Unitree-bodied consumer humanoid at RMB 79,000 formalizes the split between embodiment suppliers and model companies — and undercuts the RMB 120k–200k band.

Boston Dynamics unveiled its GR3 hand for Atlas on Oct 1 via a company blog post and demo video: four fingers, 13 degrees of freedom (up from 7 on GR2), four in the opposable thumb, direct actuation with a single actuator type, backdrivable transmission, and dense tactile pressure sensors on fingertips and palm. Atlas demos: loading a drill bit and drilling wood, tightening a nut between fingertips, spinning a drumstick, and rotating two golf balls in-hand. The pinky was cut after engineers taped theirs down for a day and judged it not worth the actuators; the design targets clean simulation for sim-to-real RL and mass manufacturability. Missed by the Oct 2 and Oct 4 editions.
Why it matters: The hand race is shifting from counting degrees of freedom to choosing them — BD is optimizing for tool use, sim-trainability and cost rather than human fidelity, a direct contrast with five-finger designs from Clone and Chinese tactile-hand makers.

Elon Musk posted on X on Oct 1 that Tesla halved AI5 RAM to 72GB of LPDDR5 and cut AI6 by a third to 144GB of LPDDR6, calling it "the only way to get enough volume for Optimus production" with a "negligible" performance effect since bandwidth, not capacity, is the constraint. On Oct 2 he nudged AI5 back up to 96GB so Tesla would not be the sole buyer of the minimum-density LP5 part. The exchange began with a post estimating ~200GB of RAM per humanoid — matching Micron's 200GB+ DRAM per-robot sizing (DroidHunt, Oct 2) — against ~45B GB of annual global DRAM output. AI5 is in trial production at Samsung's Taylor, Texas fab with volume in 2027. Missed by the Oct 2 and Oct 4 editions.
Why it matters: The memory shortage is now a binding constraint on humanoid volume, stated plainly by the sector's most aggressive scale-up: Tesla is redesigning silicon around DRAM supply rather than the reverse.

Global robotics and mobility funding in September totaled USD 4.86B across 167 rounds — less money than July or August despite more rounds — per the Robots & Startups monthly tally published Oct 3. Humanoid-relevant September deals include Qualcomm's PickNik acquisition (DroidHunt, Sept 24), Cognex's ~USD 500M purchase of RealSense, Lyte's USD 165M Series C, Maven Robotics' USD 100M and Watney Robotics' USD 80M; SoftBank's buyout of Hyundai's remaining stake in the Robotics & AI Institute is pending CFIUS review. The newsletter also flags FORT Robotics (DroidHunt, Oct 2) as heading to the public markets via reverse merger, and Agility's Analyst & Investor Day on Oct 6 ahead of the Churchill XI close. The cooling totals echo the September slowdown in China's embodied-AI deal flow (DroidHunt, Oct 4).
Why it matters: Both sides of the Pacific now show September funding cooling simultaneously — the first synchronized pause since the humanoid funding cycle ignited, just as IPO windows open.
